Minimalist Summer Outfit

Since most of my clothes were all packed up in boxes and it was also over 100 degrees outside during my last two weeks in LA, most of my outfits were pretty simple and consisted of only a few items that were still hanging in my closet. Although I’m not necessarily ready to call myself a minimalist, I get the appeal of downsizing your wardrobe and focusing on having just a few staple items that you wear on a regular basis. Having less to chose from actually made it more easy for me to pick out what to wear every day. This mini skirt and t-shirt combo was one of those outfits I put together and I love that that the simplicity of it left me with some room to experiment with accessories, which I hardly ever do.

In other news, I finally made the move to Portland! Last week was pretty stressful for me simply because I don’t deal very well with change and I was enjoying LA so much that I just didn’t want to leave. However, I’m very lucky that I have a strong support system that made the transition so much more easy for me. My friend Janista joined me on the drive from LA to Oakland, where we had our gracious hosts May and Allen welcome us into their lovely home. After a day of exploring the Bay Area with Janista, I drove up by myself to Portland where I stayed with my friends Candace and Dave. Thanks to the power of social media, I was able to find a place to live within a few days and am slowly adjusting to life in a new city. Although it’s going to take me some time to get used to this change, I’m very excited to explore my new home and share my adventures on this blog.

xoxo,
Helen
