I remember being really excited about experiencing nature when I first moved to Oregon, but I never got around to exploring my surroundings the first year I was here. Part of that was that I was too entrenched in my work to set aside time to go on day trips or hikes. The other part was that I decided to garage my car earlier this year, which has left me kind of landlocked to the city of Portland.
Luckily for me, there are quite a few green spaces that I can get to either on foot or through public transit. Most recently, I discovered Reed Lake, a gorgeous wildlife area, while searching for places to take photos. This lake is smack dab in the middle of Reed college, but you still feel like you’re away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. The trail itself is pretty short, but it is still very pretty and calm. And the best part is that there are little surprises at every twist and turn. I even got to see some geese as I was walking around! It was the perfect way to start off my morning!
Since it was a bit chilly outside, I wore this camel sweater coat to keep me warm on my walk. But to be truthful, this coat is perfect for any day that it doesn’t rain here in Portland. A camel coat is a fall closet staple because it’s so versatile and the warm neutral color is perfect for the season. I also love the oversized fit of this particular coat, and that it doesn’t have buttons, making it so that I can just wrap it around myself like a big old blanket.
What are some of your closet staples for fall?
xoxo,
Helen
