Today I’m officially debuting my first summer outfit of the season. As usual, I’m keeping things pretty simple with shorts and a cute top. I recently bought this pair of pleated culotte shorts from ASOS and already know they are going to be a summer staple. The buttons and flared shape add a feminine vibe to my outfit and make them stand out from other pieces in my wardrobe. I paired these bottoms with a white tie blouse and clogs for a fun retro glam look which made me feel like I was straight out of the 70s. The right details make it so that you can create a vintage-inspired look with just a few pieces. However, if retro glam style is not your thing, you can add a denim or leather jacket for a modern and edgy look.
In terms of sizing, I would recommend to size up. I’m usually between a 2 and 4, and got these shorts in the smaller size. They were pretty hard to put on since you have to pull them on and the elastic has very little stretch. Although they do fit perfectly once they’re on, I’d recommend sizing up if you want to avoid the struggle.
My younger sister Sarah took these photos while we were hanging out in Northwest Portland this week. She and my sister Ale were in town for my grad school graduation, and it was nice to show them around my new home. We did our usual routine of drinking coffee, eating, window shopping and sightseeing, and I got to discover a few new places around town.
Speaking of graduation, I can finally say that I have my MBA! I’ve briefly mentioned being in school here and there these past two years. During this time, I’ve had to adjust to living in a different city on top of trying not to lose my mind while working and going to school full-time. Even though it’s been tough, I’m so grateful for the experience. I’ve grown so much and have met so many amazing people.
The challenge now is trying to find things to do with all this free time that I have. If any of you have some great book or movie recommendations, please send them my way. The first thing on my list is to finish reading “The Handmaid’s Tale” and then watching the series. However, aside from that, I still have so much other catching up to do!
