Every year for Christmas, my sisters and I put together a wish list to make the shopping process easier for ourselves. I kept my list pretty vague this year so I didn’t know what kind of gifts to expect, but I think my sister Sarah completely nailed my style with this gingham top from Zara. I love the oversize fit, puffy sleeves, and the bows at the wrist. It’s also one of those pieces that makes you look like you tried without having to put in too much effort. I wore it here with high waist trousers, but I think it will also be a fun piece to wear with a flared skater skirt or shorts for a more casual look.

This post is special because I’m celebrating both my 3-year blogiversary (it just passed on Jan 14th) and 28th Birthday (Jan 19th). I started this project of mine a few days before my 25th birthday as a way to deal with my “quarter-life crisis.” It was during a time when all my friends were moving away and moving forward with their careers. As a result of the changes happening around me, I felt really down and stuck. This space provided me an outlet to explore my interests and channel my creativity. It also gave me the opportunity to work through some of the anxiety I was feeling.
I’m not going to lie and say that I don’t have those moments when I think about quitting this blog. However, the pros of maintaining this blog always outweigh the cons. I like being part of the blogging community and connecting with other people with similar interests. I also love being able to see how much I have changed and grown over time.
Now, when it comes to my 28th birthday, I definitely have moments when I don’t feel that excited. I just want to be at a point where I feel stable and like I’ve figured things out. That sort of anxiety usually causes me to make impulse decisions like moving to a different state and chopping off all my hair. Therefore, I hope to at least be able to learn to manage those urges and be less restless in the upcoming year.
To end this post, thank you for following my journey these past few years. I truly mean it when I say that this community definitely makes working on this blog worthwhile.

    Striped Off-the-Shoulder Top

Zara Frilled Top (Similar here, here and here)
Nine West Sandals (Similar here and here)

If there’s one trend that I am in love with this summer, it has to be off-the-shoulder tops. I purchased this top from ZARA a few weeks back, and I love the frilled sleeves because there is something very sexy and feminine about them. I also love the straps on this particular top, which is unfortunately sold out, because I can still wear a regular bra with it. Being a bit on the bustier side makes it more challenging when you’re on the market for a strapless bra, so it will be a while until I fully commit to the off-the-shoulder lifestyle.
I did not realize that this top was cropped when I purchased it online, but luckily many of the bottoms I own are high-waisted, so it works perfectly with most of my wardrobe. I do show a little bit of skin with this pair of Madewell high-rise jeans, but that doesn’t bother me too much. If anything, wearing this top will serve as an exercise to learn to embrace my body more this summer.
Speaking of learning to love your body, I think that finding pieces that fit well is a very important part of that journey. I recently replaced my old pair of blue jeans with this pair of high-rise crop jeans from Madewell and they fit like a dream! The high waist hits just where it should and the inseam is the perfect length for my petite 5’3″ frame. I also like that these jeans have a good amount of stretch and aren’t too skinny, making them extremely comfortable.
I hope you all had a very restful and exciting weekend! I was definitely looking forward to it after last week. For some reason, there’s something about going back to work after a holiday weekend that makes it so much harder to get through the week! Luckily, I had a very rejuvenating past two days myself. Since one of my goals this summer is to explore a bit more of Portland, a friend and I headed to Pine Street Market for some delicious eats. I enjoyed coffee, tapas and ice cream. What more could a girl ask for? I don’t think I need to say that I’d definitely recommend visiting this fun spot if you’re ever in the Portland area. Thanks for stopping by!

Part of the reason that I started a blog is because I love reading them, and there are several bloggers whose style I truly admire. I usually just visit blogs for outfit inspiration, but when I saw this floral Samantha Pleet dress on Rebecca from The Clothes Horse, I fell in love and was determined to have it. The print was just so beautiful and unique to me, and I loved that it fit in with my style, but didn’t look like anything else that is currently in my closet. However, I was immediately heartbroken when I clicked on the link to the dress and realized that it was way out of my price range. Luckily for me, I found this similar style at ZARA for a small fraction of the price. The print and fit of the dress are both very similar, and I’ve received several compliments every time I’ve worn it.
I have to say that last week and this weekend were amazing. I had so many family and friends send birthday wishes my way, which made me feel so incredibly loved. In addition, I have had several things happen that have made me feel more confident in my potential and plans for the future, which is different for me. All of last year, I felt confused and insecure about my life goals and what I’ve been doing with my life, but last week I finally started to feel like everything is falling into place.
I’ve also been in such a great space because I’ve been doing a great job at managing my anxiety and practicing self-care. I spent too much of last year being a recluse and moping around, but I hope to keep working towards maintaining a positive attitude throughout the rest of this year.
In my efforts to live more in the moment, I’ve been making sure that I make time to hang out with friends and family, and do things that I really enjoy. This weekend I made sure to get out of my “cave” and do some socializing. On Saturday I went out for brunch with my friends Shantal and Sara, and I also went hiking with my sisters on Sunday. Because of that, even though I had a lot of work to do, I still felt like I got the most out of my weekend. I’ll have to remember that next time that I try to become antisocial and let other responsibilities consume my life.
