I wore this black lace dress to a friend’s wedding this weekend. It’s my favorite dress, and I wear it almost every time that I have a special event to attend. I just love the delicate lace detail on the sleeves and throughout the dress. I also love that when I wear this dress, I don’t have to put too much effort into dressing up. On this particular day, I just put on some red lipstick and a bangle around my wrist, and I was good to go.

Lately, I’ve been becoming more aware of how much everything around me is changing. Friends getting married is just one of the things that has made me notice how quickly time is flying by, and how everybody around me seems to be transitioning to new phases in their life. I woke up one of these past weekends and suddenly realized how many of my friends have moved away these past two years either for work, school, or to experience living in a different city.

 What makes it hard to get used to friends leaving is that I’m an extrovert (a socially awkward one), and it freaks me out to think that I’m going to have to get used to spending more time by myself. I claim to be a strong and independent person, yet I’m terrified at the thought of doing something by myself. Don’t get me wrong. I do appreciate my alone time just as anybody else. However, I miss constantly having plans with friends, or having a group of people that I can call when I’ve had a tough day at work and want to grab a beer. Change is scary!

Regardless of how I feel about change, it’s coming and I’m going to have to learn to embrace it. I just need to remember to stay positive, and hope that things change for the better. I also need to remember that even though I cannot see my friends every day, they are just a phone call away when I need somebody to talk to. I’m also surrounded by a loving and supportive family. What more can a girl ask for?
