One of my tricks for assembling an outfit on days when it feels like I have nothing to wear is sticking with a monochrome palette. Although it may seem boring or overwhelming to wear just one color from head to toe, the trick is to break up your outfit by wearing different shades. I accomplished that with this monochrome outfit by wearing a marled turtleneck sweater which adds a bit of texture to this look. The loose style also helps balance out the more fitted over-the-knee boots and mini skirt.
Speaking of over-the-knee boots, these are one of the best purchases I’ve made in the past year. I was not sure whether I wanted to invest in a pair of these boots because I thought that I would get sick of them quickly, but that has not been the case at all. Although fall in Portland can be quite chilly, I can get away with showing off a bit of leg whenever I wear them. I also like wearing them over jeans as an extra layer on days when it’s extra cold outside. I would recommend investing in a pair if you’re looking for a piece that will keep you feeling cozy and looking cute at the same time.
