Travel Diary: 24 Hours in San Francisco, CA

    San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge
    Photos by me and Janista
I’m finally getting around to sharing a few photos from when I stopped in San Francisco for a day on my way up to Portland. I was fortunate to have my friend Janista as my road trip buddy for the first leg of the trip, and we had so much fun checking out The Bay area together. I would say that it’s pretty tough to explore all that San Fran has to offer in just one day, but Janista and I did a pretty good job at hitting up many of the major landmarks. That’s pretty impressive if you consider that we did it mostly on foot. We walked about eight miles that day and got a pretty good workout hiking up those hills.

It’s a constant struggle for me to find sunglasses that are flattering on my face, so I was very sad when I accidentally broke my favorite pair of black round sunglasses a few weeks ago. Luckily, Sunglassesshop.com contacted me around the same time and came to my rescue by sending me a very similar pair of round sunglasses from the brand London Retro. The shades I picked out from Sunglassesshop.com’s selection are called the “Nancy” Multicoloured Sunglasses in Tortoise and, even though you can’t tell from these pictures, I love that there are fun specks of blue throughout the frames. I wasn’t too sure if I would like the gray lenses since they look a bit translucent on the website, but they are much darker and opaque in person.

Having lived in Southern California all my life and never having experienced a long fall and winter, I’m very excited to finally get use out of my cold weather wardrobe now that I’m in Portland. Although temperatures haven’t dropped too low, I already have a few pieces that I’ve been gravitating towards whenever the weather is a bit chilly outside. One of those pieces is this plaid flannel tunic that I already know is going to be a wardrobe staple for me this upcoming fall and winter. My sister Alejandra gifted this shirt to me last Christmas and it is one of the warmest and coziest things I own; it truly makes me wonder why I waited so long to own anything made out of flannel. What makes this top a great transitional weather piece is that it can easily be styled in a variety of ways. In the past I’ve also worn it as a loose tunic over denim jeans (as seen in this post from last year), as a jacket over a basic tee, and belted at the waist over a pair of leggings. I especially love the rugged and “masculine” vibe this top adds to any outfit.
