As I was digging through my closet about two weeks ago, I found this dress that my aunt gifted to me about 3 years ago. I had never worn it because I usually don’t feel very comfortable wearing clothes that are very form-fitting, and I also thought that it was very plain. As it turns out, this dress is actually one of those items that looks better on than it does on the hanger. The fit was more flattering on me than I thought it would be. I also really love the simplicity of the dress because it makes it easy for me to experiment with different accessories. On this particular day, I wore this dress with a couple of gold accents.
This weekend was so fun and rejuvenating for me. I was able to schedule a couple of hours of much-needed alone time, and relaxed with a latte and a book at Copa Vida, my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. I sometimes forget that it’s necessary for me to carve out time to recharge, since I’m always trying to catch up with everybody in my life and am afraid to miss out on something important. However, I also need to keep in mind that I’m much more enjoyable to be around when I’m not tired and cranky.
I also spent a great amount of time working on making items for the Etsy shop that I’m planning to open up in a couple of weeks. I’m currently making packs of notecards with block print designs on them (which you can check out on my Instagram). Although I spent a great amount of time this weekend carving out linoleum blocks and making prints, it was a very fun and therapeutic project to work on. I don’t really know what will happen once I do open up the shop, but right now I’m really enjoying the whole creative process of making and packaging items. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is that I’m having fun.
Speaking of having fun, I seem to be having more of that these days. When I started this blog earlier this year, I was going through a “quarter-life crisis,” and many of my posts seemed to revolve around me feeling lost and stressed out. Although I’m still trying to figure out what it is that I want to do with my life, and have even started the process of applying to grad school, I’ve been less stressed about it these days. I realized that part of my anxiety stemmed from me trying to fulfill other people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be doing with my life at my age. At the moment I’m content with focusing on what makes me happy.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. As always, thank you for stopping by my blog.

    Messy Hair Day

    Outfit Details:
Forever 21 Classic Wool Floppy Hat
    Madewell Bag
    H&M Top
Lotta from Stockholm Peeptoe Clogs in Tan
It’s been so humid these past few days, that I have realized that it’s completely useless to put in any effort into doing my hair because it just gets really frizzy no matter what I do to it. On this particular day, I decided that the best way to conceal my messy hair was by putting on a hat. I’m glad that it kind of worked! I’ve been thinking of trying to incorporate hats into my everyday outfits, and this is a pretty good reason to do so.
Other than wasting time worrying about my hair, I had a super productive weekend. I met up for dinner with my friend Alle who is in town for the summer. I also said goodbye to my friend Summer, who is leaving for grad school in New York. I even made time to go out and buy some crafting supplies this weekend, and I can’t wait to start creating things in the upcoming weeks. I’ve decided that I’m going to start an Etsy shop, and I’m hoping that it will keep me motivated to be creative. I’m really looking forward to sharing the projects that I’m working on with all of you!
Have a lovely rest of the week!

    Chambray My Way

    Photos by Laura Nolan

    Outfit Details:
    Denim/Chambray Dress c/o eShakti
Lotta from Stockholm Peep Toe Clogs in Tan Leather
    Madewell Leather Purse in Black

This weekend I made another trip to San Juan Capistrano, and wore this chambray/denim dress that I received c/o eShakti, which was very lightweight and perfect for the warm weather!  I had been looking for a retro style dress for a while, but I couldn’t find one that fit me well. Luckily for me, eShakti is an online retailer that allows you to customize any item to your size and height. Since I am petite, I chose to have them make the skirt of the dress to fit above my knee. I also kind of wish that I had entered in my full measurements when I ordered the dress, because it is a little tight around the chest area. However, that detail isn’t too noticeable, and I’m still very in love with this dress. You can find eShakti on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

As you may already know, the reason that I’ve been driving out to San Juan Capistrano so frequently is because it’s the halfway meeting point for my best friend Laura and me. In the next few days, Laura will be flying out to China to live there for year, and I wanted to get one more chance to see her before she left. Although I’m really sad that I won’t get to physically see her for a year, I’m really excited about all of the fun adventures that she will have while abroad. We had an amazing time catching up this weekend, and I know that we’ll be able to pick off right where we left off when she comes back.

P.S. Please send good vibes to Laura as she prepares to go on this new journey in her life!
