    Outfit Details:
Forever 21 Classic Wool Floppy Hat
    Madewell Bag
    H&M Top
Lotta from Stockholm Peeptoe Clogs in Tan
It’s been so humid these past few days, that I have realized that it’s completely useless to put in any effort into doing my hair because it just gets really frizzy no matter what I do to it. On this particular day, I decided that the best way to conceal my messy hair was by putting on a hat. I’m glad that it kind of worked! I’ve been thinking of trying to incorporate hats into my everyday outfits, and this is a pretty good reason to do so.
Other than wasting time worrying about my hair, I had a super productive weekend. I met up for dinner with my friend Alle who is in town for the summer. I also said goodbye to my friend Summer, who is leaving for grad school in New York. I even made time to go out and buy some crafting supplies this weekend, and I can’t wait to start creating things in the upcoming weeks. I’ve decided that I’m going to start an Etsy shop, and I’m hoping that it will keep me motivated to be creative. I’m really looking forward to sharing the projects that I’m working on with all of you!
Have a lovely rest of the week!

I recently read an article in Darling Magazine called “I’m Not Here, I’m Not There,” in which the writer Tracey Wallace discusses how multitasking is making people less productive. Wallace’s article implies that smartphones are largely responsible for the “multitasking phenomenon” because people constantly feel the need to seek out information or be connected to social media. The article goes on to suggest that instead of trying to multitask, people should focus on breaking up their life into four quadrants–these quadrants can be any areas in your life that hold a deep significance to you, and you should aim to contribute something positive in each one. People should focus on only one particular quadrant during a specific time in order to maintain balance and achieve success in their everyday lives.
I really enjoyed the article for many reasons. Firstly, it made me think about how my own constant usage of social media and dependance on my smartphone, are tied to my habit of multitasking. In the past few years, I’ve become obsessed with documenting different aspects of my life to the point that I don’t always get to fully enjoy myself and live in the moment. Not only that, I constantly use things like working on my blog or checking my Instagram as an excuse to step away from focusing on a more important matter or working on a challenging task.
I also enjoyed that Wallace’s article made me take a moment to think about what my priorities are by suggesting that, in order to be successful and productive, people need focus on four quadrants in their lives where they can make a significant contribution. It was extremely challenging to break up my life into just four areas that I want to focus on–I’m so used to just seeing my actions as individual tasks instead of how they relate to a bigger picture. I would say that for now the quadrants that I want to focus on are my family, friends, learning and being creative.
I feel that looking at my life in quadrants makes me feel more organized and focused in life; it also makes me think about what areas of my life I need to contribute more time to. I definitely feel that in the past couple of months, I haven’t really made time to focus on unleashing my creativity or attaining more knowledge. I definitely need to set apart time during the week to step away from my computer and read a book or work on a creative project.

I hope you all had a fun 4th of July weekend! I spent mine (mostly) away from a computer screen and smartphone, and instead I made time to hang out with family and friends. Some of my friends from out-of-state were in town all day Saturday, and I had so much fun being their tour guide for the day. They were such good sports as I dragged them from one place to another, even though I definitely made them walk more than a couple of miles as we explored different parts of Downtown Los Angeles. I hope that I can continue this streak of having fun-filled weekends as long as possible!

In my Portland Photo Diary, I had mentioned how much I loved spending time in Portland’s beautiful parks; that is probably why I ended up taking all of my outfit photos at the parks that I visited during my trip. These photos were taken by my best friend Laura at Cathedral Park, which is located beneath the beautiful St. Johns Bridge on the east shore of the Willamette River. Since I was looking to relax and spend more time outdoors during my trip, I really liked that Cathedral Park was so close to the river and that there was so much open green space all around. However, it’s the bridge’s beautiful arches that give the park so much character and make it truly breathtaking. Laura took my photos on a stage at one end of the park where, as you can see, the view of the arches was simply amazing.

I had to make the last photo of this post a silly one! When Laura sent me the photos that she took of me, I couldn’t stop laughing at some of them because I came out making the funniest faces and poses. All my Portland friends were standing around looking at me as Laura was taking pictures and, since I’m not used to having an audience, I started to feel extremely self-conscious and doing silly poses. It’s truly thanks to Laura’s awesome photography skills that I even managed to look decent in some of these photos.

While I’m on the topic of taking silly photos, I have to say that working on this blog has served as an opportunity for me to practice self-confidence and self-love, and to learn to not take myself too seriously. I used to hate how I looked in pictures to the point that I would avoid taking any at all, and would dispose of any that I didn’t like. It kind of makes me sad that I’ve missed out on documenting so many memories because of such a silly insecurity. As funny as I look in that last photo–and trust me when I say that it’s not even the most laughable picture of the set that Laura sent me– it does make for great comic relief and it really portrays the fun mood that I was in at the moment.

I’m really sad that this is my last set of photos from Portland. I’m so glad that I was able to have such a fun vacation, and I hope to make a trip down there again soon. Are there any fun places that you have visited or are planning to visit in the near future?
