How to Spend 36 Hours in Seattle

I’ve recently realized that I’ve taken for granted that I live in such close proximity to so many amazing cities and towns. My latest trip to Seattle is a true testament to that. Despite the city only being a short train ride and a 3.5-hour drive away, it’s still taken me over 4 years of living in the Pacific Northwest to visit. With a friend’s wedding to attend this month, I was finally forced (or, let’s say, strongly encouraged) to make my way up there and explore this beautiful city.

Although our stay was short, my friend Kelsey and I still managed to pack in quite a bit during our 36-hour stay. We stayed at a hotel in downtown Seattle which made it very convenient to explore the city. Just the way I like it, our trip consisted of a good amount of sightseeing, coffee and good food.

I don’t want to bore you with too much of a prologue, so I’ll go right into the details. Here are some highlights from our short, but extremely fun trip!  Continue reading

Summer Minimalist Style: Black Surplice Top, Ikat Print Shorts, and Black Sandals

I’ve recently fallen in love with this pair of printed shorts. The funny thing is that I’ve had them for a while, but I haven’t worn them as much as I could. However, I can see that changing because I think they fit in very well with the effortless and simple style that I’m trying to adopt this summer. The fun pattern of these shorts make them a great statement piece, which translates to an easy summer outfit.

One reason that I have avoided wearing these printed shorts is because I tend to have a fear of wearing patterns. Although I aspire to one day become a pro at mixing prints, I am not quite there yet. Regardless, I think you can still put together a few fun outfits by pairing these shorts with solid pieces. With this particular outfit, I decided to go with a black surplice top because the v-neck adds a more sophisticated vibe in my opinion. But, you can also wear these shorts with a loose long sleeve sweater, crewneck top, or even a simple tank.

In terms of footwear, I paired these shorts with black minimalist sandals. However, you can also throw on a pair of white Stan Smiths or Vans for a more casual look.

What do you all think? Are you into printed shorts this summer? If so, how would you style them?
