Thrift shopping has become one of my favorite pastimes over the past year for many reasons. I love the sustainability aspect of it and knowing that I’m helping the environment. But even more, I enjoy the thrill and challenge of giving new life to another person’s “trash.” This black ribbed mini dress is one of my recent and most favorite finds and I struggle to understand why anybody would get rid of it.
Although I’ve only worn it once, I can already tell that this ribbed mini dress is going to be one of my favorite summer staples. The loose shape is both flattering and perfect for extra hot days. Plus, I absolutely love the versatility of it. It works for the office, a fun date or a multitude of fun activities around town. Seriously, the ribbed jersey fabric is very comfy and it’s easy to move in!
Here, I paired this ribbed mini dress with minimalist sandals and a black blazer, which was also thrifted. Although I bought these sandals new, they are a piece that I’ve had for years. Focusing on buying items that I know I will continue to use, instead of what’s on trend, is another way that I’m trying to reduce my footprint on this planet.
I can’t end this post without addressing that I’ve been away from this space for a while. I know nobody is pressuring me or holding me accountable, but it does feel weird to break out of the routine. However, when I wrote this self-care post a few weeks ago, it was a reminder that I need to take time to care for myself. It’s been nice focusing on other outlets and rethinking how I want to use this space going forward. My gut tells me that I want to focus on more quality vs quantity, meaning fewer posts. And, as I’m moving towards that, I want to explore more of my interests. So, although you’ll see me less often around here, I hope I can provide you with more interesting and unique content.
